|Thanks to Marc Brans, for kindly sharing photos from his personal collection.|
Thanks also to Tom Casey for all that hard work researching Mick's extensive discography and the sessions he's played on - I'm so glad all I had to do was put it onto the web pages, you've made my job a lot easier!
Thank you too to Bas for his enthusiasm and support, and the Quatermass gem. :-)
And of course, to the man himself...
When I got an email from Mick Underwood about doing his website, my first thought was, "Oh my God!" and my second, a more pragmatic, "Probably just a coincidence, it can't be that unusual a name."
Perhaps not, but it really was THAT Mick Underwood. The drummer who happens to have played on numerous albums in my collection, including one of my favourites of all time, Quatermass. The very same guy who has performed with so many great musicians, but who is not nearly as well-known as he ought to be. Here, at last, is a chance to redress that.
Not to mention that Mick is a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour and a huge enthusiasm for what he does so well, definitely a pleasure to work with.
So it's wonderful to have an opportunity to do one of the things which is so very important to me - to be able to say THANK YOU to a musician I admire very much and whose music has been an important part of the soundtrack of my life!
As one of your mates put it so aptly, "Keep rocking, me ol' China!"
|A few months ago I was checking some websites of bands and I just stumbled across this certain site that knocked me out. I had a site domain that, through sheer laziness, I hadn't bothered with but when I saw this it motivated me to do something.|
It seemed that the architect was a young lady called Carol Hynson who resides in Sydney Australia and I live in London U.K., no logistics problem there then! I just hoped that she might be interested enough to take the project on.
Contact was made and Carol very kindly agreed to get involved. Since that moment I have never ceased to be amazed at her ability, stamina, sense of humour, fantastic way with words and patience in unravelling my ramblings. Her musical knowledge is great ( she plays bass guitar ) and she knew more about some of my previous work than I could remember.
It has been and, I truly hope will continue to be, a hugely pleasurable experience working with Carol and God willing we will get to finally meet in the early new year.
Carol, thank you so much!
